Aquasana AQ-4100 Shower Filter was voted "Product of the Year" by Cosmetology Today Magazine! This unique 2-Stage shower water filter is US Patented, has a high filtering capacity and is easy to install. No tools necessary, although pliers may be helpful. The granular copper/zinc and coconut shell carbon replaceable water filter effectively removes 99% of Chlorine, reduces VOC`s, heavy metals and other chemicals, as well as enhancing pH.
Stage 1 removes chlorine and enhances pH balance with a natural copper/ zinc mineral media called KDF-55D. The second water filtration stage uses a carbonized coconut shell media for the removal of synthetic chemicals and VOCs that vaporize and can be inhaled or absorbed through the skin potentially causing adverse health and cosmetic effects.

This filter system is really fine. It is so nice to have softer skin and hair. It was easy to install. Although we haven't had to replace the filter yet, it appears to be another easy install. Very Important! Be sure to run water through the filter before placing it in the shower. I can recommend this product without hesitation.

My hair had been turning orange do to the water where I live. I bought this to help filter out some of the rust or iron. I noticed no change in my skin or hair. Plus, it leaks, terribly. I've tried every trick in the book and it still leaks. It also emits the filtering residue every time I turn it on, even though i followed directions on letting it run when first installed. Kind of embarrassing to tell guests to turn on the water first, make sure it clears, then get in the shower. Not only would I not recommend this to a friend, I wouldn't even admit I spend the money on something so cheap.

My husband and I have been using these shower water filters for several years now. I had more trouble getting the old shower head off initially than installing the new system. (I'm 5'4" so I needed a step stool to do this) Wrap the pipe fittings with Teflon tape. (be sure to wrap in a clockwise fashion). This will make it easier when it's time to change out the filter. I don't use the shower head that came with the unit. I use a hand held unit that I already had. The difference in our skin and hair is very noticeable. Hair is softer and our skin is not near so dry. An added bonus is that the shower walls and door do not get the film on them from all the minerals in the water (we have very hard water here). Sign up for emails on Aquasana's website and you can almost always get 20% and free shipping. I didn't sign us up for the water for life because we actually get more than 6 mos. out of our filter since it's just the two of us. Tip- after you've got the water filter installed but before you put the shower head on, turn the water on, you will want to take a bucket to catch the water as it will be black from the carbon inside the filter. If you have plants, use it to water your plants. After about 2 gallons or so, the water should run clear. Now put the shower head on and run it for just a minute or so. I bought one of their shower filters a while back, and it is great! I already have soft water, but this filters out all kinds of crap. And the shower spray head that comes with it is really nice too. It feels like you are showering in natural spring water. It leaves your hair and skin squeaky clean! And you should see the thick lather you get with your shampoo. I highly recommend it!!
